How much bandwidth do I have and what is it for?

When you access a web site, you are downloading a file. This file can be a web page, an image, a sound file, or a combination of these. These files are downloaded to your computer and displayed in your web browser.

Each time you download a file, data is being transferred. The amount of data depends on the size of the file. If you download a web page that is 1 kilobyte (1,024 bytes), or 1 KB, in size, then 1 KB of data has been transferred. If 100 people access that same web page, then 100 KB of data has been transferred.

All our accounts are given 10 Gigabytes per month bandwidth, that's 10,485,760 kilobytes! We don't want to restrict bandwidth but we do need to set a limit. We feel that 10 GB is a good limit that most modest sites will never reach as the average website uses 1 or 2 Gigabytes of bandwidth per month. If you feel you will need more than 10 GB, please contact us so we can make an arrangment.
